Officer Edward Schaefer was the first on the scene of a suspicious car with New York license plates parked on Oak Street near Edgewater Road just after 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon.

There he said he found 31-year-old Joel Bautista of Secaucus crouched behind a car wheel listening to a police scanner and talking on a cellphone.

Schaefer was interviewing him when two other men — identified as Adam Khales, 28, of Palisades Park and 32-year-old Samer Samra of North Bergen — came running out from the side of a house on Edgewater Avenue.

Officers Greg Anastassatos and Daniel Fugnitti chased them across a couple of yards before Anastassatos trabbed Samra and Fugnitti collared Khales.

Patrol officers returned to the burglarized home and found it ransacked, a window broken and jewelry missing, Capt. Richard Besser told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

They also recovered the scanner and gloves that were being sent to the lab for DNA analysis.

All three were being held on $20,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary.

Khales also was charged with resisting arrest and Batista with intercepting police transmissions.
