The girl’s father “became aware of what had occurred” and called Fort Lee police, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said.
They then notified Molinelli’s Special Victims Unit and the state Division of Child Protection and Permanency.
An investigation led to the arrest Friday of Malik S. Bell of 12th Street, the prosecutor said.
Bell, who is single and unemployed, was being held on $200,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with sexual assault and child endangerment. Arraignment was set for April 3.
