The odor was hard for Officer George Kwiecinski to miss as 23-year-old Jose Guzman of Union City returned to court, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Kwiecinski, who was there on another case, patted down Guzman and found him carrying a joint in his jacket pocket, Pentangelo said.

Guzman then admitted “he left the building to smoke marijuana and had jsut returned after the respite,” he said.

Guzman was arrested, charged and released on a summons to return to the very same courthouse, Pentangelo said. That’s in addition to continuing his hearing on a Sept. 28 pot arrest in town.
