A bridge security guard alerted officers to the 52-year-old trespasser near the bridge’s New York tower at 11:17 a.m., the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Officers Richard Toledo and Scott Lehr found him “looking over the outer railing down towards the Hudson River,” Pentangelo said.

The Blairstown man, who told them of a history of schizophrenia and prior suicide attempts, was taken by Fort Lee EMTs to Bergen Regional Medical Center in Paramus.

There have been two suicides from the bridge this year and four saves this month.
