Officer Nick D'Agostino recognized the 1991 driver -- 62-year-old Bertha D. Moreno of West New York -- as a "known toll evader" after the bus emerged from a tunnel tube in Weehawken, the authority's Joseph Pentangelo said Tuesday.

After stopping Moreno, the officer found 653 violations, he said.

It wasn't that she wasn't paying anything, Pentangelo said: Moreno was using an EZPass transponder designated for passenger vehicles.

She was arrested and processed on theft charges and the bus was impounded, he said.
