Port Authority PD: GWB E-zpass Toll Evader Owes $11,500

FORT LEE, N.J. -- A North Bergen trucker was arrested Wednesday at the George Washington Bridge after police found he owed $11,500 in unpaid E-ZPass tolls and fees, authorities said.

Port Authority Police Officer Leonel Gonzalez stopped the 2007 Freightliner tractor and trailer for going through an E-ZPass toll lane without a transponder, the authority's Joseph Pentangelo told Daily Voice.

Gonzalez then discovered 99 previous violations, he said.

The truck was impounded, Pentangelo said.

The driver, 42-year-old Edwin Galvez was processed on charges of theft of services and toll evasion before being released pending a court hearing.
