FORT LEE, N.J. -- A driver stopped on the George Washington Bridge overnight Thursday registered twice the legal alcohol limit on a breath test, Port Authority police said.

Officers stopped the 2011 Infinity sedan as it drifted in and out of lanes across the span at 1:45 a.m., the authority's Joseph Pentangelo said.

Ricardo Puig, 35, of the Bronx "had a noticeable smell of alcoholic beverage on him and slurred speech," Pentangelo said. "His eyes were also read and watery.

"He got out of his car and was unsteady on his feet."

The officers arrested Puig -- charging him with DWI, careless driving and making unsafe lane changes -- and impounded the car.

He was later released on a summons.
