FORT LEE, N.J. -- Port Authority police rescued a 6-month-old runaway pup who was struck by a truck on the George Washngton Bridge.
Ronin apparently "wriggled out of his collar during a walk and fled, making his way to an upper level eastbound lane of the bridge," where he was struck, the authority's Joseph Pentangelo told Daily Voice.
Ronin was bleeding heavily from his injured right front paw and leg when Port Authority Police Officers Fred Corrubia and Jonathan Harder found him, Pentangelo said.
They sped the shepherd/hound mix to Oradell Animal Hospital in Paramus for emergency treatment, he said.
Corrubia contacted his owner, who picked up Ronin the next day.
