The woman told police she was about to board the bus on the west side of Grand Avenue near Englewood around 5:30 Tuesday night when the man came up and began asking her about are bus lines in a Middle Eastern accent, Leonia Police Chief Jay Ziegler said.

As he broke off the conversation, she said, he extended his arm in a “thank you” gesture. She shook his hand, and he then “pulled her into his body and hugged her by wrapping his other arm around her as he still held her hand,” then “attempted to kiss her on the mouth,” the chief said.

The woman turned her head away and he let go, but he then grabbed one of her breasts before taking off, Ziegler said.

She described him as light-skinned, 45-50 years old, about 5-foot-10, 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes and a 5 o’clock shadow. At the time he was wearing a black fleece jacket, black jeans and black shoes.

Anyone who may have been similarly accosted or who has information about the man is asked to call Leonia detectives at 201-592-5764.
