YOU SAW IT HERE FIRST: A pedestrian was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer on the New Jersey Turnpike 1-95 express lane extension in Englewood this afternoon after getting out of his car for some reason, State Police said.
The crash in the northbound lanes at milepost 120.4 was reported at 1:14 p.m., NJ State Police Trooper Jeff Flynn told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
The victim was pronounced dead 40 minutes later, he said.
The driver of the Mack Truck tractor — which, like the trailer, is from Indiana — remained at the scene, Flynn said.
The ramps from Route 80 and the express lanes south of Grand Avenue in Leonia remained closed indefinitely while State Police investigate, Flynn said.
