Huseyien Ender, 50, of Palisades Park, was being held on $100,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with extortion, criminal restraint and making terroristic threats.
Paramus Detective Detective Craig McEllen investigated the case, with help from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, and arrested Ender last week.
He learned that Ender “made threats to harm the employee if he did not transfer certain monies and property” over the course of several months, Lt. John Scully said.
At one point, Scully said, Ender locked the employee in the basement of his Sunoco gas station on Route 4.
McEllen recovered a “substantial amount of currency, jewelry, and other possessions,” the lieutenant said.
