Palisades Interstate Parkway police got the 911 call around 9 p.m. Friday of a hit-and-run crash at Interchange 7 in Nanuet, Police Chief Michael Coppola said.
Officers set up at various locations to locate the black Dodge Charger, which kept going after one of them tried stopping it near Interchange 1, Coppola said. Officer Michael Griffin pursued the vehicle off the ramp to Fletcher Avenue in Fort Lee toward the bridge, the chief said.
After passing the toll plaza, 38-year-old Michael DePalma stopped the car on the lower level, he said.
DePalma remained held on $50,000 bail Sunday in the Bergen County Jail, charged with eluding, obstruction, possession of cocaine, Xanax and drug paraphernalia (a cocaine straw) and DUI.
New York State Police charges were pending, Coppola said.
Charges from NYSP Haverstraw Station were pending.
