“We just got a puppy,” Julianne Peralta told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. “When I was at work, my husband went to bring him inside and put him in his cage. Around that time Delila went running down the stairs.
“My husband didn’t think anything of because she never runs away,” Peralta said. “When he went downstairs the door was closed, so he thought maybe she went to the basement or to someone else’s apartment.
“But she was nowhere to be found.”
He drove around looking for the the 6-year-old former therapy dog. The couple also asked around.
A neighbor said she thought she saw Delila run from the Peraltas’ apartment to the backyard of another.
Julianne Peralta said they were worried at first because of a busy intersection behind their home. But there were no reports of a dog struck.
“We believe someone may have grabbed her thinking she was a stray,” she said.
“Please help us find her,” Peralta asked CLIFFVIEW PILOT. “We love her very much and are heartbroken about this.”
Delila, who has a bit of an underbite, “might be a bit nervous, but she never will bite,” Peralta said. “If anything she will cry, crouch, or try to even lick you so you will let go of her.
“If you find her please call the Palisades Park Police Department and they will notify us. Please help and return her safely to us and we will give you a reward. We love her very much and need her back home.”
