Kitten Found Trapped In Box Drenched In Diesel Outside Fort Lee High Rise

FORT LEE, N.J. -- Someone drenched a kitten in diesel fuel, crammed her into a box sealed with cable ties and left her in the bushes outside a Fort Lee high rise.

Investigators from the Bergen County SPCA are searching for the culprit-- and have also established a GoFundMe account to help pay for medical treatment for 6-month-old "Olive" (as in: Olive Oil).

A resident walking his dog in front of the Atrium on Palisades Avenue around 10:15 p.m. this past Monday found the box near the front driveway, authorities told Daily Voice.

A security guard helped him open it.

Fort Lee police notified the SPCA, which took Olive to the Oradell Animal Hospital in Paramus for emergency treatment. She was cleaned, treated, x-rayed and then monitored.

Olive remained in the care Friday of the Bergen County Animal Shelter in Teterboro.

"She seems really sweet in spite of what she has been through," a shelter representative said. "It will be a while until she is available for adoption -- will post when she is."

Since she has no known owner, the non-profit SPCA (which receives no government funding) is covering Olive's medical costs. TO DONATE:

Meanwhile, investigators told Daily Voice that they have video showing the culprit dumping the box around 9:30 p.m.

Authorities vowed to prosecute that person to the fullest extent of the law.

They also asked that anyone who was in the area that night and might have seen something suspicious -- or has other information that can help find the person responsible -- contact the Bergen County SPCA at (201) 573-8900 or
