The heroin possession counts against 25-year-old Ernis Beato — one first-degree and two third-degree — include being within 1,000 feet of Fort Lee High School.

Beato remained free today on $250,000 bail, posted a little over two weeks after his June 25 arrest.

Beato was coming from Philadelphia when he was stopped, Fort Lee police said.

The federal government has estimated the street-sale price of pure heroin at as low as $100,000 per kilogram (2.2 pounds) and as high as $170,000 for “black tar.” Additives can stretch a kilo by up to 50%.
