Four passengers aboard the NJT required backboards after complaining of neck and shoulder injuries, Joseph Pentangelo of the Port Authority told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
Pentangelo also confirmed that a 32-year-old woman in a vehicle behind the crash was taken to Bellevue Hospital.
A responder said her contractions were 13 minutes apart at the time.
The 9:35 a.m. crash closed the center tunnel tube and caused significant delays even after it was reopened. Express lanes were left open longer than usual to accommodate the volume, while police directed soe motorists to back out on the New Jersey side.
Roughly 60 passengers were aboard the NJ Transit bus, which passed through Bergenfield, Cresskill, Dumont, Englewood, Leonia, Palisades Park, Ridgefield and Tenafly, as well as North Bergen, Guttenberg, West New York and Weehawken, NJ Transit’s Nancy Snyder said.
The private bus, meanwhile, carried a group of 20 or so students and adults from Toronto who were in the city for an eighth-grade graduation trip.
“A little excitement this morning,” the school principal tweeted. “Mr Norris and my bus was rear ended by another bus in the Lincoln tunnel….we are all fine” (@kevinbattaglia1)
