GWB Bridge Stop Yields $498,800, Money Laundering Arrest

FORT LEE, N.J. -- Port Authority police found nearly $500,000 in cash in an SUV stopped on the George Washington Bridge and arrested the driver, law enforcement sources told Daily Voice.

Arnold Isaac Mercado, of North 2nd Street in Philadelphia was charged with money laundering after authority police pulled him over for a traffic violation on the lower level of the bridge's New Jersey side in Fort Lee just before 5 p.m. Sunday.

Inside the white Buick SUV, they found $498,800, a source told Daily Voice.

Mercado was ordered held in the Bergen County Jail on money laundering charges.
