Guatemalan immigrant charged with sexually abusing Palisades Park girl, 4

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A married construction worker from Guatelmalan sexually abused a 4-year-old Palisades Park girl, authorities who arrested him earlier today said.

Israel Duarte, 45, was being held on $150,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with sexual assault and child endangerment.

The girl “disclosed what had taken place to her mother and her pediatrician,” Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said this afternoon.

The pediatrician contacted the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P), which then alerted his Special Victims Unit, the prosecutor said, adding that Palisades Park police were also notifed.

Interviewed by SVU detectives yesterday, the girl “provided specific details regarding what had occurred,” he said.

An arraignment was scheduled for next Thursday.
