PAPD Officer Ed Berdecia was interviewing both drivers after the 1 a.m. crash on Lemoine Avenue near the George Washington Bridge when he detected alcohol on the breath of Pasquale Bartolone, who face was also flushed, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

“He admitted to having had shots and was unsteady on his feet and staggering when he got out of his car,” Pentangelo said.

Berdecia — who last year made 119 DWI arrests — took Bartolone into custody and had the vehicle impounded.

No injuries were reported.
