Fort Lee, Cliffside Park firefighters extinguish house blaze

ONLY ON CVP: Firefighters put down a two-family house blaze at the Fort Lee-Cliffside Park border this afternoon.

They received backup assistance from their Fairview, Leonia and Palisades Park colleagues while fighting the fire on Edgewood Lane off Columbia and Anderson avenues in Fort Lee behind the Greenhouse high-rise in Cliffside Park.

The responders dealt with heavy fire in the walls of the 2½-story wood-frame house after receiving the call around 1:15 p.m. They had the blaze under control within two hours.

A neighbor reportedly rescued a pitbull from the otherwise unoccupied house.
