FORT LEE, N.J. -- A woman who jumped to her death from the lower level of the George Washington Bridge was identified by Port Authority police Thursday morning as 36-year-old Catherine Hughes of Clifton.
Hughes jumped around 7 p.m., the authority's Joseph Pentangelo told Daily Voice. Her body was recovered and taken to Dyckman Pier on the New York City side, he said.
It was the 8th GWB suicide this year, Pentangelo said. At the current rate, there would be 15 this year.
There were 18 last year (SEE: 18th Suicide From GWB This Year Matches 2014 Total).
Port Authority police were trying to determine how the body of a man found in the Hudson on Thursday morning got there.
