Burglar caught after walking in on Fort Lee resident, police say

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Fort Lee police said they grabbed a Bronx man moments after a resident confronted him in his home this morning.

Aley Beretay, 30, told the South Street resident that he was looking for “Mike Lewis,” then quickly left, Fort Lee Police Capt. Stanley Zon said early this evening.

Responding Vassilios Triantafillou, Antonio Hernandez and John Gallo found Beretay a few blocks away and arrested him on attempted burglary charges.

He was being held on $25,000 bail Iin the Bergen County Jail.

Fort Lee police, meanwhile, are asking that anyone who might have seen him in the area contact detectives: (201) 592-3510.
