Although the description matches that of Catherine Sheerin, official identification must be made by the Bergen County Medical Examiner, they said.

PIP police found a 2013 Ford Focus at the lookout Sunday night that Sheerin had borrowed from a friend..

Several personal items of hers were also recovered, PIP Police Chief Michael Coppola said on Monday.

Sheerin, who police said was familar with the Bergen and Rockland areas, was depressed, didn’t have her medication and was possibly “a danger to herself if not located,” the chief said at the time.

Department officers and a Bergen County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit searched the interstate park area but “were hampered by heavy rains and darkness,” Coppola said.

That morning, the sheriff’s K-9 unit returned, along with one from the Westchester County Police Department, to both the park area and the Palisades, he said.

“Due to on and off rain conditions making the search extremely hazardous, the search was continued into Tuesday with additional K-9 units,” the chief said.

“Assistance from Wyckoff Police was requested for the use of their drone,” he added. “[H]owever[,] heavy foliage made visibility difficult.”

Rappel teams from Cliffside Park, Closter, Englewood Cliffs, Fairview, Fort Lee and East Bergen joined Palisades Interstate Parkway police at the scene today.
