Bergen County Police Officer Matthew Bartlett stopped a car driven by 19-year-old Marco Sanchez around 9:20 p.m. for failing to maintain a lane, BCPD Lt. Robert Espinosa said this afternoon.

“Upon approaching the vehicle, Officer Bartlett detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from inside,” Espinosa said.

The officer got Sanchez’s consent to search the car and found 17 bags of “Spice”  in a black plastic bag on the passenger side floor, the lieutenant said.

Bartlett also turned up two glass pipes and a gas mask with a bong attachment, he said.

He arrested Sanchez and his passenger, 18-year-old Christopher Satturia and charged with possessing the synthpot for sale, as well as having the drug paraphernalia.

A Superior Court appearance was set for tomorrow afternoon.
