$41,500 Stashed In Suitcase Gets Florida Driver Busted In Fort Lee Stop

FORT LEE, N.J. – A Florida driver was arrested on money laundering charges after Bergen County prosecutor’s detectives said they found more than $41,500 stashed in a suitcase during a Fort Lee traffic stop.

Daren Joseph, 28, was released without bail pending a first appearance in the Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.

Detectives pulled him over on Thursday and found the cash “secreted in the liner of a suitcase,” Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said Friday.

Joseph was charged with transporting or possessing property believed to be derived from criminal activity, Grewal said.
