REWARD OFFERED: A $25,000 reward is being offered by the family of Dolores Alliotts of Palisades Park for information leading to the arrest and conviction of her killer or killers.

Alliotts’s body was found in a 12th Street home on April 28, 2010 after she was stabbed and the building was torched, authorities said.

“Detectives believe, based on available statistics and evidence, that the killer may have had some prior interaction with Alliotts,” Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said.

“This may have been a brief interaction that would not normally raise suspicion, such as a deliveryman, maintenance personnel, landscaper, or real estate agent,” he said.

“Prior to the murder, the suspect may have attempted to interact with other women of the same age as Alliotts and may not have appeared as any threat,” Molinelli said. “There may be prior or thwarted attempts to enter a home under a false pretense in the past. In many similar cases, this type of behavior goes unreported to the police.

“Due to the nature of the crime, detectives believe that the suspect may have cut himself, or soiled his clothing with blood and smoke,” the prosecutor said. “The suspect may have exhibited a sudden or abrupt change in behavior immediately prior to, or following April 28, 2010, or may have temporarily moved away from the area following the murder.

“According to recent F.B.I. statistics, a youthful or young adult should be considered.”
