FORT LEE, N.J. -- Alexander Mauro, a Fort Lee resident, died on Wednesday, Sept. 30. He was 92.
He was born to Felix and Teresa Mauro in the Shadyside section of Hudson Heights in North Bergen.
He was a petty officer first class in the Navy and served his country for four years in World War II as a signalman on the USS Forster.
After the war he dabbled in photography as a hobby and worked as a checker on the railroad in Edgewater, N.J. Later, he worked as a manager and pattern maker in the textile industry for Joel & Arnoff Embroidery until his retirement in 1990.
He is survived by his children, Terri (Alan) Spiniello, Phil, and Sal (Karen) Mauro; and grandchildren, Alyssa, Michelle and Alex (Mauro) and Maryssa and Eric (Spiniello).
