The rig was headed toward New York City when the winds hit it at 9:15 p.m., the Port Authority's Joseph Pentangelo told Daily Voice.
"The truck landed on the westbound lane [toward New Jersey] facing eastbound," he said.
The driver wasn't injured.
"The westbound roadway will be shutdown for a significant period, given that weather conditions are making all operations difficult and dangerous," Pentangelo said at 11 p.m. Truck were banned from the span until 7 a.m.
Port Authority tunnel and bridge agents uprighted the 18-wheeler, and a private tower handled the rest, Pentangelo said. A minor fuel spill was tended to, he added.
