Bob Ceragno has recently been collecting funds for "Fight Colorectal Cancer" at his store North Bergen shop, Eye Contact Vision Center.
Because of that, the North Bergen Police Department has selected to donate the funds from its No Shave November campaign to the cause.
"I was shocked when they called me," said Ceragno, a colorectal cancer survivor himself.
"I’m a small business owner, so I’m not making millions. I do what I can to help the community the best I can."
The department raised approximately $2,700 and had 54 officers participating in the annual tradition, which raises awareness toward cancers that specifically target men.
Ceragno's store will host the grand finale of the month, where all 54 officers will have their beards shaven off.
"I’m so excited and honored that they’re doing this in his honor," Marlene Ceragno, Bob's wife, said. "Until it hits you you don’t know what it feels like."
The shave-off will take place on Nov. 30 at Eye Contact Vision Center, 733 Bergenline Ave, North Bergen at 11 a.m.
