"I think he put it best: Education is power," said Robins, 17.
Robins graduated from Leonia High School in June and will study political science at George Washington University this fall.
While he's still too young to vote, he'll turn 18 on Sept. 4, enough time before the November election.
"In order to be someone who shapes society you have to focus on your education," Robins said. "I have a stake in my own hometown to help shape education and give power back to my friends and other students."
All while focusing on his own education.
"I already started booking my train tickets," Robins said. "When you consider the infrastructure, (Washington, D.C.) is not too far away."
If elected, "I plan on attending the meetings just like everyone else," he said.
Robins aspires to have a career in public service and "figured the BOE would be a good place to start my career so to speak."
He created Facebook page for his campaign and started to write up the ideas he plans to bring to the Board of Education, including technology improvements and faculty salary increases.
"The district could have someone who is a recent student giving a voice to those who don't have one," said Robins, who plans to attend law school following college.
At Leonia High School, Robins competed for the debate club, was president of the Junior Statesmen Association, and part of the environmental club and student senate.
In his spare time, he hosts a live radio talk show "Opinion Nation" on KLRN.
"It's a left-wing show on a right-wing station," he said.
Robins has hosted a number of guests from the political realm, including Green Party presidential candidate Dr. Jill Stein.
