Based on pastor Mike Slaughter's book, "Momentum for Life," "participants in this small group are focusing on five key areas -- devotion, lifelong learning, key relationships, vision and healthy lifestyle -- to be their best selves and move forward to God’s promised future," according to a news release from the church.

The group already went through the first half of the book in the fall, but newcomers are welcome to join the small group. Group meetings also include low-impact weekly exercise and monthly therapeutic art projects.

The church's small groups "are all about growth through relationships," according to that news release. "If you are looking for personal growth, community, or a deeper relationship with God, then our small group program is for you. "It does not matter where you are on your faith journey. You are welcome to join us."

The group meets at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel at Leonia Methodist Church, 396 Broad Ave., Leonia. Karen Elder and Pat Pacheco lead the group.

For more information about the group, e-mail Elder at iowatonj@aol.com, Pacheco at pacjar@optonline.net or the church office at office@leonia.church -- or call 201-944-2970. For more information about the church, visit its website.
