The math learning center holds open mathematic competitions, called "Trimathalons," and awards the victor with scholarships for Mathnasium courses.

Daniel Gilman from Edgewater claimed victory in the latest competition after answering a series of grade-level appropriate math puzzles.

Gilman is a student at Primoris Academy, a private school located in Westwood.

The competitions are open to all students. Entry is free. Mathnasium donates $10 to an organization for each child that enters the contests.

This year the collected money will go toward a local parent teacher association.

Gilman's mother, Tanya Gilman, said her son enters many math tournaments around Bergen County and was happy with his success.
