Fort Lee 'Brief Babe' Seeks 100,000th Diaper Donation

TENAFLY, N.J. — A Fort Lee caregiver is hoping that a July adult diaper drive in Tenafly will bring her 200 more packages to help her hit her 100,000th brief.

Marlene Ceragno of Fort Lee hopes the adult brief drive this month at the Kaplen JCC in Tenafly will help her hit her 100,00th diaper.

Marlene Ceragno started the Adult Care Brief Bank in 2012 as an initiative to collect and distribute adult briefs to Bergen County senior citizens who cannot afford them.

She saw the need for it while caring for her aunt who was showing signs of dementia, had outlived her money and had become incontinent.

"I was able to get her on Meals On Wheels, use the Bergen County CHEER and CHORE programs," Ceragno said.

"But when it was time to find help purchasing adult absorbent products I found that there is none other than Medicaid and hospice," Ceragno said.

Ceragno established depository diaper banks around the county for older adults "living on the edge," she said.

Brief donations can be delivered to the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades, located at 411 E. Clinton Ave., Tenafly.
