Ramapo Film Fest Honors Late Town Councilwoman Frances Hunter

RAMAPO, N.Y. – This year’s Ramapo Fall Film Festival will be held in honor of former Ramapo Councilwoman Frances M. Hunter, a regular at Fall Film Festivals who recently died, according to the town.

Now in it’s 15th year, the festival is to begin Saturday, Oct. 22, and run through Saturday, Dec. 10, according to a statement from the town.

The first film, “Twenty Feet From Stardom,” is an Academy Award-winning documentary starring Darlene Love, a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member and Rockland County resident, according to the town.

Other films scheduled to be shown include:

• Alfred Hitchcock’s “Psycho” (1960) on Oct. 29.
• “The Godfather” (1972) on Nov. 5.
• “A Streetcar Named Desire” (1951) on Nov. 12.
• “12 Angry Men” (1957) on Nov. 19.
• “The Wizard of Oz” (1939) on Nov. 26.
• “Moonstruck” (1988) on Dec. 3.
• “White Christmas” (1954) on Dec. 10.

According to the town, the films will each be shown between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Ramapo Senior Citizen Community Center’s cinema room, according to organizers. “The Godfather” tends to run longer, meaning that event will be open from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Admission to the films is free for Ramapo children younger than 12, according to the statement. Town residents will be asked to pay $3 while those living outside the town will be asked to pay $5.
