That's because they are. "Java Jitter" was filmed at various Starbucks locations in Englewood, Paramus and Hasbrouck Heights and Singer/Songwriter DaVido has lots of stories about shooting the scenes.
"Java Jitter is about meeting a beautiful barista at a New Jersey Starbucks. But when I tried to film it at Starbucks on Route 17, I was thrown out, so I kept going to other locations," he said. "Every time, I got tossed out of another Starbucks. It took over 200 Starbucks locations to complete the video. The rejections became an intricate and humorous part of the video and added to the appeal of it."
DaVido, lead singer of DaVido and the LiBeatos, spent part of his childhood in Wyckoff and Fair Lawn and describes his music as "pure emotion, passion, and original," or what he calls "Retropolitan." He said it is heavily influenced by New Jersey. "My dad owned a bar in Hoboken where he would hire all the best lounge singers in the area, and I'd go to the bar as a child and listen," he said. His self-penned song about New Jersey beaches, entitled "Shore House' has Jersey written all over it.
Currently living in Union, DaVido regularly performs around the area, including at the Mason Jar in Mahwah, the Maywood Inn and the Oak Ale House in Maywood along with other Bergen County venues. His next appearance is January 22 at the Mason Jar.
He's also getting set to record a music video of another self-penned song "Oh God", at Bob Suede’s recording studio, Suede TV and Recording in Hackensack. Actor Danny Aiello, another Bergen County connection, even covered DaVido's "Running Every Red Light," DaVido’s debut single, which was released this past summer.
Look for him next on Friday, Jan. 22 at Mahwah's Mason Jar.
