The 22-year-old Edgewater resident is hoping Gold Chrome Car Rentals, LLC will help attract celebrities who can further his entertainment career.
“A year ago I put a post on Instagram that said I was getting a new car, and needed fans to tell me what color to get,” said Persin, formerly of Passaic. “Ninety percent said black with gold chrome, so I got it.”
The car was earning Persin more attention than he dreamed of.
“Everywhere I went people stopped me to take pictures,” he said. “That’s when the idea came to me.”
Persin saved up enough money to open his Fort Lee dealership this year, dropping $1 million on five cars. He has a Land Rover, Maserati, Porsche, Audi and even his own BMW i8.
Persin has been riding around in Ubers and his friends' cars so that others can enjoy his.
Customers might recognize Persin from YouTube, where he has 2.8 million subscribers.
The Florida native moved to Passaic when he was 10. After dropping out of both high school and college, he decided to pursue his true passion: making people laugh.
The video that kicked off his YouTube career was called “How To Get Any Girl’s Number,” which he launched in 2013 with no money in his bank account. At the time, Persin was working four side jobs in New Jersey.
He quit all of them after about four months on YouTube. That's when he started making more money from social media than he was at work.
Persin’s big break came around six months in, when he dropped “Ventriloquist Picking Up Girls on the Subway," which now has more than 5.5 million hits.
He is hoping his car business and entertainment careers will collide, as he caters to celebrities such as Paterson rapper Fetty Wap, 50 Cent, Young M.A and Jim Jones.
“I believe in the law of attraction,” Persin said. “If you’re around the right people, you’ll attract them. In another two months, you’ll see Justin Bieber.”
