Officers were called to the home and found the back kitchen sliding glass door had been smashed with a flower pot around 8:20 p.m., Palisades Park police said.
The burglar went into the home and upstairs to the second floor, where the homeowner was sleeping. The homeowner awoke and went to the staircase, where she saw the man, who immediately fled, according to Rotundo.
The burglar was described as being approximately 5'6" and wearing a forehead flashlight. Bergen County Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI) responded to process the scene. Detectives are investigating, and the investigation is ongoing.
