Morris County is mourning the loss of a high school senior following a battle with a long illness. Luna Marcela Cabrera Castro died Friday, Nov. 17, her obituary says. She was 18. Man Who Killed Uncle Found Dead In Atlantic City: Cops
A New Jersey man wanted in connection to the fatal shooting of his uncle in Maryland was found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Atlantic City, police say. On Monday night, Nov. 20, 62-year-old Lewis Parker, Sr. was found inside his Brandywine home, and during the course of the investigation, his nephew, 29-year-old Somers Point, NJ resident Elijah Drew was identified as a suspect. A third man who authorities said was involved in a terrifying string of armed robberies in Passaic County has been identified. Kareem Powell, 30, of Willingboro, was arrested by federal agents on Tuesday, Nov. 21, in connection with the August 2022 holdups, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced on Wednesday. UPDATE: The survivors of a worker who fell to his death from a residential roof in Haledon will receive $75,000 after his employer admitted in federal court this week that his Middlesex County construction company failed to provide any fall protection equipment or training. The day after Thanksgiving in 1986, sanitation workers in South Orange made a grisly discovery. A dead baby was found atop a trash can behind an apartment building at 5 Cottage Street in South Orange on Nov. 28, 1986, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. The body was wrapped in a towel and a yellow table runner and placed in a wicker picnic basket, which was left on the trash can, prosecutors said. A winning Mega Millions ticket from the Tuesday, Nov. 21 drawing, winning the $1 million prize, was sold in New Jersey. The ticket matched all five numbers drawn which were 17, 22, 25, 30, and 38. Missing NJ Boater Reunited With Family After Week Adrift
A boater out of Jersey City was reunited with his family last week after he went missing sailing to Bermuda, the Coast Guard said. No one had heard from the mariner since Monday, Nov. 6, and the Coast Guard Atlantic Area command center began a search and rescue effort, the Coast Guard said. Another ship, the Time Bandit, heard an alert, and on Wednesday, Nov. 15, found a vessel that matched the description of the missing boat, the Coast Guard said.
