Two whales found dead along the Jersey Shore suffered from infectious diseases, marine biologists said. The Marine Mammal Stranding Center (MMSC) posted on Facebook to release the necropsy findings for the 17-and-a-half-foot minke whale discovered in Lavallette on Friday, Oct. 4. The animal's body was found near Trenton Avenue at around 6:30 a.m. The male was considered thin and had no food in its digestive tract. Two Whales Found Dead Along Jersey Shore Coast, Marine Biologists Say
Two whales were found dead along the Jersey Shore about 24 hours apart, officials said. A dead minke whale was found off the coast of Sandy Hook in the Raritan and Lower bays on Thursday, Oct. 3, the Marine Mammal Stranding Center (MMSC) said in a news release. The whale was estimated to be between 16 and 18 feet long. The Coast Guard first notified the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society (AMSEAS) and MMSC about the whale. Sundown Swimmers At Unguarded NJ Beach Rescued
Three swimmers were rescued while in the water after sunset in Ocean Grove, officials said. Rescuers were called to a swimmer in distress near the pier at the Main Avenue beach at around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, the ANSWER team said in a Facebook post. The report was quickly upgraded to three swimmers in distress. When emergency crews arrived, they saw the three swimmers screaming for help. Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Train At Jersey Shore
A male was fatally struck by a train over the weekend at the Jersey Shore, NJ Transit officials confirmed. The victim, whose identity was not immediately released, was struck by a North Jersey Coast Line train just before stopping in Spring Lake around 3 a.m. Sunday, June 4, NJ Transit spokesman Kyalo Mulumba said. None of the eight people on board train No. 4795 were injured. The train had departed Long Branch at 2:42 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Bay Head at 3:22 a.m.

Several bull shark sightings were reported in the Navesink River in Central Jersey, local police said. People reported seeing the shark in the area of the river near Navesink Avenue, Rumson police said Thursday.
