New Law Requires NJ Drivers To Move Over For Disabled Vehicles
Gov. Phil Murphy has expanded New Jersey's "move over" law to protect drivers of broken-down vehicles on the side of Garden State roads. The new requirement says drivers must safely move into another lane when approaching a disabled vehicle using flashing hazard lights, road flares, or reflective triangles. Gov. Murphy signed the bill into law on Tuesday, Jan. 16. If oncoming drivers can't safely move into another lane, they must slow down below the speed limit and be prepared to stop. ! Parsippany PD Reminds Motorists To Obey Law After Officer Injured
Parsippany police are reminding drivers to move one lane over after one motorist failed to do that and injured an officer. The officer was pulled over on Route 10 Wednesday to help a disabled Wegmans tractor-trailer when he was slammed from behind by a Nissan Altima just west of Tabor Road on the westbound side of the highway around 6:20 p.m., Parsippany Police Sgt. A firefighter remains hospitalized a week after he was seriously injured in a chain-reaction crash on I-280 in West Orange, according to a social media post shared by the township Monday. Firefighter William Holder, who has been with the department for six years, was in serious but stable condition at University Hospital in Newark. In a heartfelt public appeal, a responder who was at the scene of a dump truck crash Tuesday on Route 280 urged drivers to approach accident sites cautiously.
