A 69-year-old New Jersey man must spend the next eight years in federal prison for paying a purported hit man to kill his ex-wife and her daughter. Michael Stewart of Monroe Township in Middlesex County must serve nearly the entire plea-bargained sentence handed down this week because there's no parole in the federal prison system. An out-of-town vehicle burglar picked the wrong neighborhood, police in Franklin Lakes said. An off-duty Passaic County sheriff’s officer nabbed Tony Amandee Smith of Monroe Township (Middlesex County) on Colonial Road shortly before 7 p.m. Saturday, April 9, Capt. Mark McCombs said. The officer kept Smith in custody until borough officers collected him, McCombs said. A third-tier New Jersey Lottery ticket good for $10,000 was sold in Central Jersey. The ticket from Friday's Mega Millions drawing was purchased at Stop & Shop at 1600 Perrineville Road in Monroe Township (Middlesex County). The winning numbers were 08, 31, 32, 34, and 45.
