A New Jersey mayor who allegedly called some fellow elected officials "not good Catholics" for supporting the raising of a rainbow flag during Pride Month was removed from office by members of his own party. The flag controversy ended up being the last straw for fellow Republicans who were already at war with now-former Rochelle Park Mayor Perrin Mosca over what they said was abusive behavior. Former Lyndhurst High School Varsity Football Captain Nick Cimicata died on Thursday, March 16. He was 20 years old. Nick played basketball and football at Lyndhurst High School (Class of 2021), where he was also the vice president of Future Business Leaders of America, his obituary says. Affectionately known as "Nicky Blue," he also served as the coach of Savino's in the township's Little League program, and as a 10U travel coach. A sharp-eyed Lyndhurst special police officer nabbed a 15-year-old boy from Brooklyn who authorities said made a 911 call threatening to blow up the township high school. A Bergen County communications dispatcher told Lyndhurst police shortly after noon on Oct. 7 that an unknown caller using anonymizing technology claimed there was a bomb inside the high school, Detective Lt. A police sergeant who knows Lyndhurst High School like the back of his hand quickly got to a contractor who’d gone into cardiac arrest, saving the man’s life. Sgt. Steven Passamano was the first responder in the remote room after the 49-year-old victim began going in and out of consciousness and eventually went limp, Detective Lt. Vincent Auteri said. Three 15-year-old Lyndhurst High School students were suspended for a brawl that left another teen injured at a football game last Friday, authorities said Tuesday. What Detective Sergeant Vincent Auteri called “an unfortunate physical altercation” occurred in the stands during the Golden Bears’ 21-20 home conference victory over Pompton Lakes. Body Of Former Lyndhurst HS Teacher Recovered In Tennessee Plane Crash
The body of a former Lyndhurst High School teacher was among two recovered in a small plane crash in Tennessee. Lynda Vartan Marinello, formerly of East Rutherford, died after the plane crashed into the Tennessee River Monday, authorities said. The plane was found 35 feet down the river, near where witnesses reported seeing it hit the water, local police said. The other victim was identified as retired U.S. Marine Corps Capt.
