One Caught, On Sought: Pair Wanted In Paterson Armed Robberies Pursued Through Fair Lawn
A police pursuit through Fair Lawn of two men wanted for a pair of armed robberies in Paterson ended, as Christmas Eve began, with one caught and the other sought. Authorities had been looking for a stolen Chevy Colorado pickup truck used in both holdups, including the robbery of a 7-Eleven on Ryerson Avenue around midnight on Friday, Dec. 22. Paterson Street Crime detectives spotted the pickup and pursued it into Fair Lawn around midnight Sunday. The pair bailed out near the intersection of Canger Place and Bellair Avenue. Little Ferry Pedestrian, 58, Struck, Killed In East Rutherford
A 58-year-old Little Ferry woman was struck and killed in East Rutherford over the weekend. The victim was struck by a Jeep Cherokee off the intersection of Paterson Avenue and Franklin Place near the Wallington border around 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, East Rutherford Police Chief Dennis Rivelli said. Witnesses said she was thrown several yards. CPR was conducted on the victim, who Riverlli said was pronounced dead at Hackensack University Medical Center. Pedestrian Struck, Road Closed In Ridgewood
A pedestrian was struck and severely injured outside the Ridgewood Public Library late Monday afternoon. Police found the male victim bleeding from the head near the crosswalk following the crash on North Maple Avenue near the Village Shopping Center shortly before 4:30 p.m. Oct. 30. The search for a suicidal man ended when he was found hanged Saturday at an old railroad car in Franklin Lakes. The circumstances weren't considered suspicious, authorities said. An alert went out to area towns around 1 p.m. Aug. 19 after police were contacted by someone concerned for the safety of the distraught Northwest Bergen man, who was in his early 60s. A 46-year-old Lyndhurst man and a boy, also from Lyndhurst, were killed in the single-vehicle crash off the eastbound highway in Wayne shortly after 10 a.m. April 30, authorities said.
