Body Found In Passaic River
A man's body has been recovered from the Passaic River, authorities in Hudson County said. The unidentified man was found floating in the river near Passaic Avenue and the Belleville Turnpike in Kearny around 6:20 p.m. Thursday, March 10, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. The Kearny Police Department and the Kearny Fire Department recovered the body, and pronounced the man dead at the scene. Stubborn Kearny Chlorine Fire Under Control
Firefighters from New York, Jersey City, Newark and several other towns helped contain a blaze at a Kearny factory that went to four alarms and spewed a noxious plume of smoke across a broad swath of Hudson County. UPDATE: The fire was brought under control Saturday morning after reaching four alarms. The Pulaski Skyway in Kearny was closed in both directions after a manufacturing plant went up in flames, stranding drivers on the roadway Friday night.
