Three Indian Americans from North Jersey charged in a hotel supply company scam were re-arrested this week after authorities said they learned that the trio stiffed victims by three times as much money as they’d originally believed.
Married couple Viral Patel, 38, and Priyanka Patel, 33, of Jersey City and Pratik Patel, 35, of Ramsey, were originally charged last December with pocketing $200,000 for services that were never provided by their Janvi Hotel Supply company on Thorne Street, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.

Jersey City Triple Shooting: One Dead, Two Wounded, Gunmen Flee
A man was shot and killed and two other people wounded in the Heights section of Jersey City, authorities confirmed.
Witnesses reported seeing two gunmen flee east on Bowers Street following the shooting on Central Avenue around 9 p.m. Sunday, April 7.
Freddie Posey, 25, of Jersey City, was pronounced dead shortly after 9:30 p.m. at Jersey City Medical Center, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.

UPDATE: A Hoboken man was charged with murder and aggravated assault in a triple shooting in Jersey City earlier this month.
Authorities confirmed on Wednesday, March 27, that Joseph Del Valle, 36, was arrested by members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit the day before.
He remained held in the Hudson County Correctional Facility along with a second accused gunman, Francisco Salcedo, 42, of Jersey City, they said.

NJ High School Teacher, 68, Punched Female Student In Head: Prosecutor
A 68-year-old Bayonne High School teacher was arrested after punching a female student in the head, authorities said.
Joseph Mingoia, who lives in Bayonne, has been on administrative leave since the Jan. 22 incident, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said on Monday, March 4.
That day, “two students were involved in an altercation on school property,” the prosecutor said. “After multiple staff members intervened, Mingoia struck a female juvenile in the head with a closed hand.”

A man accused of killing his daughter died in the Hudson County Correctional Facility last week, authorities said.
Errol Brown, 52, of Bayonne, collapsed inside of his cell at the county jail on Thursday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m., a spokesperson for the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said.
Officers and onsite medical personnel rendered aid to Brown, who was taken to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 3:45 p.m.
