7 Is Driver's Unlucky Number: Port Authority Police Continue To Collar Chronic Toll Evaders
A chronic toll evader was stopped at the George Washington Bridge with not one, not two but seven bogus license plates and tags, authorities said. It was part of a productive week for Port Authority police at three Hudson River crossings as a massive multi-agency crackdown that began earlier this month continues to gain momentum. Noel Tirado Melendez not only had the fraudulent tags when he was stopped on the New Jersey side of the GWB on Thursday, March 28, authorities said. "We also discovered that Melendez owes the agency over $8,000 in tolls and fees because of 198 known unpaid violati…

Bridge And (Holland) Tunnel Traffic Blocked By Pro-Palestinian Demonstrators, 325 Arrests Made
The Holland Tunnel was closed for nearly an hour during an anti-Israeli protest in Manhattan at the tail end of Monday morning's rush hour. The NYPD and Port Authority police seized hundreds of “Shut it Down for Palestine” protestors before releasing them on misdemeanor charges -- not summonses -- after they blocked the entrances to the tunnel and three East River bridges. That means they must attend court dates in person. Any who don't can have warrants issued for their arrests. Some of the protesters linked themselves using concrete-filled tires while others held signs that said "Lift t…

Images Of 26 More Heroes Added To Port Authority PD Line-Of-Duty Death Memorial
The images of 26 Port Authority police officers who died in the line of duty before and after 9/11 were added to a striking memorial on the New Jersey side of the George Washington Bridge. The memorial at Port Authority Police Benevolent Association headquarters off East Palisade Avenue in Englewood Cliffs originally was created to honor the 37 PAPD officers killed in the 9/11 terror attacks on America. They included K9 Sirius, whose handler put him into what was believed to be a safe place at the World Trade Center before the buildings fell. "At that time, we had what we believed to be ei…
