UPDATE: An out-of-control SUV creamed two sedans as it careened down the sidewalk of a residential Saddle Brook street, sending what authorities said was an intoxicated driver to the hospital just before daybreak Friday.
Saddle Brook officers who were first on the scene freed the driver, a 30-year-old man from Yonkers, NY, following the 6:14 a.m. Feb. 2 crash on Pehle Avenue, said Captain John A. Zotollo, Jr., the officer in charge of the department.

Hoboken SantaCon Arrests, Summonses: Guests On Better Behavior This Year, Police Say
Guests at Hoboken's annual Santacon were on better behavior this year than last, but arrests were still made, police said.
Two people were arrested and another 34 people were issued summonses at the annual SantaCon in Hoboken on Saturday, Dec. 16, authorities said.
SantaCon is an annual bar crawl where people dress up like Santa. While the event raises money for charity, it has become reviled by many residents, disgusted by the trail of drunken mayhem left in its wake.
This year's SantaCon had less arrests than year's past, Marci Rubin, a spokeswoman for the city said.

Driver, 26, In West Milford Crash Charged With DWI
A driver whose sedan slammed into a utility pole on a busy West Milford road was hospitalized and charged with DWI, authorities said.
Officers responding to the crash at the corner of Macopin Road and Westbrook Road found a significantly damaged 2011 Volkswagen Jetta on Aug. 25.
The driver, Klarissa Burwell, 26, of West Milford, showed signs of impairment, according to a township police news release.

An off-duty Edison police officer was charged with vehicular homicide in connection with one of the two double-fatal crashes that occurred in Somerset County over the weekend, authorities announced.
Amitoj Oberoi, 29, of Somerset, was charged with two counts of first-degree vehicular homicide, as well as DWI, and several motor vehicle violations, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald said Wednesday, Aug. 30.
Oberoi is employed as an Edison police officer and was off-duty at the time of the crash, the prosecutor said.

A Somerset County woman was DWI when fatally ran her husband over with a car in February 2023, authorities said.
Amanda O'Keefe, 37, had a blood alcohol level over the legal limit when she ran over her husband, Robert O'Keefe, 41, in Hillsborough on Saturday, Feb. 25, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald said.
Robert was pronounced dead outside of his Clark Lane home around 2:30 a.m., McDonald said.

A portion of an Elmwood Park garden apartment complex was temporarily evacuated after a vehicle driven by a drunk motorist slammed into a row of garages Friday afternoon.
The 2013 BMW wagon slammed into the garages at the Elmwood Terrace Apartments, causing substantial front-end damage to the vehicle as well as damage to the garages, shortly after 2:30 p.m. Nov. 25, Police Chief Michael Foligno said.

The co-owner of a New Jersey business and suspected drunken driver in a deadly crash has been released from Salem County Correctional Facility pending trial, NJ Advance Media reports.
Amy Buchanan, 56, of Gloucester Township, was killed in a DWI crash involving a pickup truck driven by Patrick M. Dunn, 42, of Harrisonville, in Elk Township on Tuesday, Nov. 1, the outlet said.
Dunn was arrested for “the suspicion of driving while intoxicated,” the outlet said, quoting the criminal complaint. Dunn was charged with reckless vehicular homicide and strict liability vehicular homicide.
