Haledon PD: Pennsylvania Pot Dealer, Wanted Paterson Man Bagged In Stop
An out-of state-driver had a Paterson passenger beside him and a book bag packed with two pounds of pot in the trunk when Haledon police stopped his sedan for having a busted rear license-plate bulb, authorities said. Officer Jeffrey Welsh stopped the 2012 Honda sedan on West Broadway near Cliff Street shortly before 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Authorities: Undercover Paterson Police Work Both Sides Of Street, Bust 14 Hookers, 27 Johns
Female Paterson police posing as prostitutes bagged 27 johns, while their male colleagues snatched up 14 streetwalkers who offered them sex for money, authorities said. Citizen complaints about an open-air prostitution market drove ABC/Vice unit detectives to work both sides of the street, city Police Director Jerry Speziale said. They had help from the department’s Narcotics Division and the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department, as well as from counselors with the county prosecutor’s Human Trafficking Unit, he said. Elmwood Park PD: Knife-Wielding Man Lures Officer To House To Kill Him
An Elmwood Park man intent on killing a police officer placed a bogus 911 call from his home, then ambushed the first responding officer with a large knife, authorities said. The front door of the Miller Avenue home swung open and 42-year-old Richard Karcz man came running at Officer Emanuel Degenerro wielding the 9-inch knife over his head, Police Chief Michael Foligno said.
