Tree Service Crane Topples, Dangles In Bergen Neighborhood
A tree service crane toppled backwards and was suspended in the air late Monday morning during a residential job n Cresskill. No injuries were immediately reported in the mishap, which left the cab of the O'Brother Tree Service of Bergenfield snagged on power lines 25 feet in the air between single-family homes on dead-ended Roosevelt Street near Lexington Avenue at 9:40 a.m. Feb. 27. Crane Taken Out For Spin Topples In Parking Lot Of Closter School, Cresskill Operator Cited
No one was injured when a crane toppled over in the parking lot of a Closter elementary school, authorities said. The 53-year-old owner from Cresskill man had recently bought the truck and was testing the crane in the empty lot of the Hillside Elementary School on Houmans Avenue over the weekend when one of the riggers failed, Police Chief John “Jack” McTigue said. He was out of the cab before responders arrived and wasn’t injured, McTigue said, adding that no damage was caused other than a diesel spill that required cleanup. Four Route 3 Lanes Shut Down After Passing Crane Hits Overhead Signs
A crane clipped the bottom of a group of signs that hang over Route 3 in East Rutherford on Monday, scattering debris and closing lanes. The bucket-type truck hit the signs for Route 120 East Rutherford/American Dream and the Meadowlands racetrack and football training facility around 3 p.m. Police immediately closed the exit and two eastbound lanes.
