Wurzburger was a four-year member of the Montclair St. men's soccer team, where he appeared in 85 games, including making an appearance on the 2011 team that made it to the NCAA Final Four. During his playing career, Wurzburger scored 14 goals and had 21 assists, including a six goal, five assist campaign in 2014, which garnered him an appearance on the New Jersey Athletic Conference First-Team. That season he was also apart of the Red Hawks NJAC Championship team.

"We are excited to have Coach Wurzburger at the helm of the Men's Soccer program," Director of  Athletics and Recreation Barima Yeboah said in a statement. "I am confident with his coaching and playing experience he will have an immediate impact on the young men in our program."

As an assistant at Montclair St., Wurzburger assisted in recruiting and technical training and helped guide the team to back-to-back NJAC titles in 2015 & 2016.

"I'm confident we can build a program that competes for championships in the Skyline Conference, while playing the kind of exciting soccer that makes our Alumni, fans and campus community proud," Wurzburger said.
